The Wonderful World of Science

While in New York we took the opportunity to go to the Children's Science Center in Ithaca. It was great - especially for a wet foggy day. Although it was busy, we were able to get in on some of the great stations. Caleb loved it, although he loved doing the puzzles with everyone watching and cheering him on just as much as checking out the activities that we do not already have at home. Here he is climbing on the Triceratops. They do say that toddlers are little cavemen you know.

Here he is trying to dam up the water with some majorly heavy blocks. Stacy and I willingly helped. This place was just as fun for the 8 adults that came along as it was for Caleb.

There were lots of water stations, here he is moving a sailboat around using wind. He better get practising for when we have our own sailboat.

There was vacuum station that took us adults a little bit of time to figure out - "oh you have to have the door closed to create suction?" Anyway, he was pushing little pieces of foam up the tube as the tube sucked them up into the station. Pretty neat.

Caleb of course loved the faux Thomas the Train Table. This table was donated by an 8 year old. Way to give back kid, Caleb appreciates it.

This little ball pit/room was filled with... well red balls obviously. They had a little shovel and dump trucks that you could load up. He would have played in here forever if we let him.

There was a little tide pool which was filled with some neat creatures. Kids were able to touch the starfish and the anemones. There was a eel fish or something like that, but it was hiding under the rocks. Caleb was captivated, even listening to what the guy was saying about them, not sure how much he absorbed though.

Here is a video of Caleb playing at the water station. They had the cutest aprons for the kids to wear so they would not get wet.
This video is of Caleb playing the Nano Technology area, but he thought it looked like a washer and dryer. He was playing like this before I started giving instructions, I just wanted to commentate. He is so domesticated already.

That about wraps up our New York Visit. It was great and really enjoyable. Can't wait for June to do it again, and have a wedding thrown in too.
